341241 Whirlpool Dryer Drum Belt

100% Guaranteed genuine parts logo
The Dryer Drive Belt wraps around the motor and pulley. The motor rotates the belt and the belt tumbles the drum. If your dryer is noisy, won't tumble, or won't start, replacing the drive belt may alleviate these issues. To access the drive belt, first lift up the lint screen cover and remove the two screws. If you have the type of lint screen that has the cover built in, just pull it out and then remove the screws. Next, take a putty knife around the edge of the top of your dryer and find the release clips--press these in to release the top of the dryer so you can swing it open. The front panel also needs to be removed to replace the belt. Replacing this part will require basic hand tools, some disassembly of the dryer and novice repair experience. You must unplug the dryer or shut off the house circuit breaker for the appliance before installing this part.

Step-by-Step DIY Guide to Replacing a Dryer Drum Belt

1. Unplug the dryer from the power source. If your dryer is a gas model, you will need to also turn off the gas supply valve.

2. Open the access panel located on the back of the dryer. Depending on the model, this could either be a removable panel or it might be secured by screws.

3. Take note of how the belt is routed around the different pulley systems. If possible, take a picture to reference for when you install the new belt.

4. Disconnect the drum from the motor by removing the belt from the pulleys. Most dryer models have a small idler pulley that can be disengaged with a socket wrench.

5. Once the drum is free from the motor, remove the belt completely and discard it.

6. Place the new belt onto the drum and route it around the pulleys. Use the reference picture if necessary.

7. Next, attach the drum to the motor by carefully looping the belt around the pulleys. Ensure the tension is correct so the belt will move freely.

8. Secure the access panel and plug in the dryer power cord.

9. Test the dryer by running a cycle to ensure the belt is properly installed.

Following these steps will help you replace the dryer drum belt quickly and safely.
