285871 Whirlpool Hose and Clamps

The Top Load Washer Tub to Pump Hose stretches from the lower tub into the drain pump and helps removes waste water from the appliance during operation. This part includes (1) drain hose and (2) clamps. Installing this part will require basic hand tools, some disassembly of the washing machine and novice repair experience. You must unplug the washer or shut off the house circuit breaker for the appliance before installing this part. Also make sure you turn off the hot and cold water supplies. Helpful Tip: We also recommend using affresh® Washing Machine Cleaner* (item W10501250) once a month to help reduce odor-causing residue that can build up in your washing machine's drain without proper care. *affresh® brand products are owned and distributed by Whirlpool Corporation.

Step 1: Prepare your tools – Before beginning the replacement process, gather the necessary tools such as a flathead screwdriver, adjustable wrench, hose clamp pliers, and some latex gloves.
Step 2: Uninstall the existing hose and clamps – Start by using an adjustable wrench to disengage the existing hose from the water inlet valve. Remove the clamps that secure the hose from the water inlet valve with the hose clamp pliers.
Step 3: Install the new hose and clamps – Slide the new 285871 Whirlpool hose onto the water inlet valve, ensuring that it is securely attached. Tighten the new clamps around the hose and water inlet valve with the hose clamp pliers.
Step 4: Secure the new hose – Use the flathead screwdriver to tighten the screws on the metal bracket that secures the hose to the tub.
Step 5: Test the new hose and clamps – Turn the water back on to test the new 285871 Whirlpool hose and make sure that there are no leaks. Once you have tested the installation, you can dispose of the old hose and clamps.
