LA-1003 Whirlpool Dryer Door Catch and Metal Strike

This Front Load Dryer Door Catch secures and holds the door strike, and keeps the door securely closed. If your dryer's door pops open during operation, replacing this part may alleviate this issue. This kit includes (1) new latch and (1) striker assembly. Installing this part will require basic hand tools, some disassembly of the dryer and novice repair experience. Replacing the LA-1003 Whirlpool Dryer Door Catch and Metal Strike
1. Start by unplugging your dryer from the wall outlet. Then, locate the two screws (on the inside of the door) that secure the catch and metal strike to the dryer's front panel.
2. Using a Phillips screwdriver, remove the screws and set them aside.
3. Slide the catch and metal strike out of the door opening.
4. Install the new catch and metal strike in the same position as the old one. Make sure that the metal strike is properly aligned with the latch on the door.
5. Secure the catch and metal strike to the front panel using the two screws you removed earlier.
6. Pull your dryer plug back into the wall outlet and test the new catch and metal strike to ensure it secures the door as it should.
7. With the replacement complete, you're ready to get back to doing laundry.
