1. Begin by unplugging the range/cooktop from its power source.
2. Carefully lift off the cooktop surface, being careful not to damage the control knobs, wiring, or gas valve.
3. Remove the screws holding the element into place and remove the element from the appliance.
4. Install the new surface element and secure it with the screws.
5. Reconnect the wiring and replace the cooktop surface.
6. Once the new element is in place, plug the power cord back into its power source and turn on the range or cooktop.
7. Test the heat settings to make sure they are functioning correctly.
