This Top Freezer Refrigerator Fresh Food Door Gasket is on the inner door panel and creates a seal around the door to prevent warm air from entering the refrigerator. 1. Turn off the gas supply to the Whirlpool 2177311 GASKET-FIPT. To do this, locate the main gas shut-off valve and turn it counter-clockwise.
2. Remove the existing GASKET-FIPT by loosening the nuts located on either side of the faucet with a wrench. Pull the gasket away from the faucet body.
3. Clean the area around the opening in the faucet body where the GASKET-FIPT was located. Remove any debris or buildup from the area.
4. Determine the correct size of the new Whirlpool 2177311 GASKET-FIPT for the installation. Most GASKET-FIPTs should have the size etched on them. If not, measure the opening with a ruler or other measuring tool.
5. Place the new GASKET-FIPT into the opening of the faucet body and slide it into place. Make sure the gasket is properly aligned and seated.
6. Secure the GASKET-FIPT in place by tightening the nuts on either side of the faucet. Use a wrench to tighten the nuts until the gasket is firmly secured in place.
7. Turn on the gas supply to the GASKET-FIPT. Make sure there are no leaks at the connection points. If there are, repeat Steps 1-6 to ensure a proper seal.
