Replacing the Whirlpool WPW10205978 MOTOR
Tools Needed:
-Screwdriver
-Wire cutters/Scissors
-Socket/Wrench Set
Instructions:
1. Start by unplugging the appliance and locating the motor. On most Whirlpool models, it is located in the back of the machine behind the frame that houses the control board.
2. Use a screwdriver to remove the four screws that secure the motor. These will usually be Phillips head screws.
3. Once the screws are removed, pull out the old motor and disconnect the two wires from the terminals.
4. Use wire cutters or scissors to clip the terminals on the new motor.
5. Strip away at least 1/2" of insulation from the end of each wire.
6. Reattach the wires to the terminals on the new motor. Make sure they are securely connected.
7. Secure the new motor in place with the screws you removed previously.
8. Plug in the appliance and test out the new motor. Your DIY repair is complete!
