1. Before replacing the WP12729128 Whirlpool Defrost Heater, make sure to unplug your refrigerator from the power outlet and shut off the water as well.
2. Locate the defrost heater on the back wall of your refrigerator’s interior.
3. Carefully remove the insulation around the heater, being sure to mark the placement of each removed piece.
4. Unscrew the two nuts located directly next to the old defrost heater.
5. Pull the old defrost heater out of the wall.
6. Insert the new WP12729128 Whirlpool Defrost Heater into the wall and screw the two nuts back onto the unit.
7. Re-assemble the insulation in its original arrangement around the heater.
8. Plug the refrigerator back into the outlet and turn on the water.
9. Run a test cycle to ensure the new replacement heater is working properly.
