2. Once the cap is removed, use a pair of pliers to remove the metal retaining ring found underneath the cap. You may need to move the fabric softener dispenser or any other obstructions to access the retaining ring.
3. With the retaining ring removed, you can now remove the agitator and access the broken agitator dog. Inspect the new agitator dog (Whirlpool WP3951632) to ensure that it is an exact replacement for your current model.
4. Place the new agitator dog inside the agitator shaft and twist it into place. Make sure that all of the splines line up properly before fastening the retaining ring.
