2188462A Whirlpool Freezer Door Gasket
The Refrigerator Door Gasket, White, is a new rubber door seal for the freezer section of your appliance. If the freezer door doesn’t close properly or you can feel cold air escaping the appliance, replacing the rubber gasket may alleviate these issues. Note that door seal gaskets may also compress over time, causing the refrigerator to work harder to maintain a constant, cool temperature. Frost may accumulate inside the appliance as a result of this issue. Installing this part will require basic hand tools, minor disassembly of the refrigerator and novice repair experience. Step 1: Unplug the Refrigerator - Before you start any repairs or replacements on your Whirlpool refrigerator, make sure it is unplugged from the power source. This will avoid any danger of electrical shock.
Step 2: Clean Around Door Seal - Before you remove the door gasket, clean around the perimeter of the seal with a cleaner and a rag to remove any dust or debris.
Step 3: Remove Old Gasket - After the area is cleaned, use a flat head screwdriver to carefully pry the old gasket from the door frame. Move the screwdriver along the perimeter until all sides are loose.
Step 4: Remove Glue Residue - Once the old gasket is removed, you will need to remove any residue from the glue used to attach it to the door frame. Use a combination of a cleaner and a scrubber to remove the glue residue.
Step 5: Measure Size of New Gasket - Now measure the size of the new gasket (Part number: 2188462A). Make sure the measurements match the size of the old gasket.
Step 6: Apply Adhesive - Once the measurements match, use an adhesive to affix the new gasket to the door frame. Make sure to evenly spread the adhesive along the entire perimeter of the gasket.
Step 7: Secure New Gasket in Place - Allow the adhesive to dry for about 30 minutes before attempting to close the door. Test that the gasket is secure by pressing against it to make sure it is sealed.
