WPW10497235 Whirlpool Dishwasher Lower Door Seal
The Dishwasher Lower Door Seal fills the gap between the opening to the dishwasher tub and the outer edge of the door. If the existing part is cracked or damaged and water is leaking out of the appliance onto the floor during operation, replacing this part may alleviate this issue. This grey part measures approx. 24" W and is designed specifically to be used with stainless steel models. Replacing this part will require basic hand tools, some disassembly of the washer and novice repair experience. Remember to unplug the dishwasher or shut off the house circuit breaker for the appliance before installing this part. Replacing the WPW10497235 Whirlpool Door Seal
1. Gather the necessary tools and materials. You will need a screwdriver, putty knife, a new WPW10497235 Whirlpool Door Seal, and a rag.
2. Unscrew the screws to remove the broken door seal. Use a Philips head screwdriver for your model's screws, and carefully unscrew them until the old seal can be removed.
3. Carefully remove the old seal. Be careful not to damage the surrounding area as you remove it. A putty knife can help to pull out any remaining pieces of seal that may still be stuck in place.
4. Clean the area around where the new seal will go. Before placing the new seal, use a cloth to wipe down the surface, removing any debris or dust.
5. Place the new seal in its place. Make sure that it’s aligned correctly with the door, as any misalignment can cause problems when opening and closing the door.
6. Secure the new seal. Replace the screws you removed earlier, making sure they are tight enough to secure the seal.
