Replacing the WP67004188 Whirlpool Refrigerator Defrost Heater
Tools Needed:
-Flat head screwdriver
-Phillips head screwdriver
-Needle-nose Pliers
-Wire stripper
Step 1: Disconnect power to the refrigerator. Unplug the refrigerator power cord from the wall outlet or flip the switch on the circuit breaker box to shut off power to the refrigerator.
Step 2: Locate the defrost heater. Depending on the model of your refrigerator, it may be located inside the freezer compartment at the bottom or behind the back panel of the refrigerator.
Step 3: Remove the screws that secure the heater in place. Use the flat head screwdriver to remove the screws, if necessary.
Step 4: Remove the old defrost heater. Pull the heater out of its mounting bracket with needle-nose pliers and discard it.
Step 5: Install the new defrost heater. Insert the new defrost heater into its mounting bracket and secure it with the screws.
Step 6: Connect the wiring harness. Use a wire stripper to strip the insulation away from the ends of the wires. Connect the wires to the appropriate terminals on the defrost heater.
Step 7: Restore power to the refrigerator. Plug the refrigerator power cord into the wall outlet or flip the switch on the circuit breaker box to restore power to the refrigerator.
Your Whirlpool Refrigerator is now ready for use with its new defrost heater!
