The Dryer Idler Pulley and Bracket sits between the motor and the drum of the dryer, putting tension on the drive belt. If the idler wheel no longer rotates the drum freely or you notice a loud squeaking sound coming from the appliance during use, replacing this part may alleviate these issues. Replacing this part will require basic hand tools, some disassembly of the appliance and novice repair experience. You must unplug the appliance or shut off the house circuit breaker before installing this part. Step 1: Shut off the water supply to the washing machine. You’ll find the shutoff valves near the base of the machine or in a nearby closet or wall.
Step 2: Unplug the washer and remove any hoses connected to the machine. You may need an adjustable wrench to loosen the nuts that secure the hoses to the machine.
Step 3: Remove the old Lever-IDL. You should be able to do this by unscrewing it from the side of the washer with a Phillips head screwdriver.
Step 4: Install the new Lever-IDL. Place the new part into its previous position and secure it with the screws that were used to remove the old part.
Step 5: Reattach the hoses if necessary and turn on the water supply.
Step 6: Plug the washer back in and test the new Lever-IDL to make sure it works properly.
