W11307244 Whirlpool Washer Lid Latch Door Lock
This Top Load Washer Lid Lock Assembly locks the washer door and tells the control board that the door is closed so that operation can begin. If your washer door no longer latches or the wash cycle will no longer start, replacing this part may alleviate the issue. Installing this part will require basic hand tools, some disassembly of the washing machine and novice repair experience. You must unplug the washer or shut off the house circuit breaker for the appliance before installing this part. 1. Before you begin replacing the W11307244 Whirlpool Washer Lid Latch / Door Lock, unplug your washer from its power source to ensure safety.
2. Using a screwdriver, remove the screws from the back corner of the top lid of your washer and lift the lid up to access the latch underneath.
3. Pull off the rubber boot that is around the latch to expose the metal arm and two screws attached to the arm.
4. Remove the two screws with the screwdriver and then lift the metal arm up and out.
5. Take the new W11307244 Whirlpool Washer Lid Latch / Door Lock and slide the metal arm back into place, making sure it is secured to the latch.
6. Replace the two screws that were removed earlier and secure the metal arm.
7. Slide the rubber boot back into place to cover the metal arm and latch.
8. Replace the screws that were removed in the first step and close the washer lid.
9. Plug your washer back into the power source and the lid latch should now be replaced.
