How to Replace the Whirlpool Washer Belt (Part # W11239857)
Tools You Will Need:
- Phillips head screwdriver
- Flathead screwdriver
- Socket wrench
- Replacement belt
Step 1: Unplug the power cord. Be sure to disconnect the power cord from the wall outlet, not just the machine itself.
Step 2: Remove the back panel. Use a Philips head screwdriver to remove the four screws holding the back panel onto the machine.
Step 3: Loosen the belt tensioner. Remove the mounting bolts holding the belt tensioner in place. Loosen the belt tensioner by turning the retaining nut counterclockwise.
Step 4: Remove the old belt. Carefully lift the belt off the motor pulley and remove it from the machine.
Step 5: Install the new belt. Slide the new belt onto the motor pulley and make sure it is properly aligned.
Step 6: Tighten the belt tensioner. Replace the retaining nut and mount the belt tensioner back in place. Make sure to tighten the retaining nut securely and check the tension of the belt by tugging on it gently.
Step 7: Reattach the back panel. Replace the four screws that were removed earlier and replace the back panel.
Step 8: Restore power. Reconnect the power cord to both the wall outlet and the machine.
