W10820039 Whirlpool Washing Machine Basket Drive Hub Assembly
This Top Load Washer Basket Drive Hub Kit connects the spin basket to the spin shaft that spins the basket. To access the part, you'll first need to remove the agitator or the impeller depending on your washer model. Then remove the screws holding in the old drive hub and the drive hub. This kit includes one old style drive hub and one new style drive hub. The correct hub to use depends on your washer model. Replacing this part will require basic hand tools, some disassembly of the washing machine and novice repair experience. You must unplug the washing machine or shut off the house circuit breaker for the appliance before installing this part. Also make sure you turn off your hot and cold water supplies. How to Replace the Whirlpool W10820039 Basket Drive Hub Kit
1. Unplug the washing machine from the wall outlet and shut off the water supply.
2. Remove the back panel of the washer to access the motor and drive hub assembly.
3. Remove the belt from the motor pulley and loosen the two clamps that secure the drive hub to the motor shaft.
4. Place a bucket under the hub and remove the four small screws that secure it in place.
5. Slide the old drive hub out and remove any gaskets or other debris.
6. Install the new W10820039 Whirlpool basket drive hub, making sure the four small screws are tightened securely to the motor shaft.
7. Reinstall the belt on the motor pulley and use the two clamps to secure the hub in place.
8. Replace the back panel on the washing machine.
9. Reconnect the water supply and plug the washer back into the wall outlet.
10. Test the washing machine with a few items to ensure the replacement hub is working properly.
