Replacing the GE WH49X24834 Shifter Mode SVC Assy Kit: A DIY Guide

1. Begin by unplugging your washer from the electrical outlet and turning off the water supply to it.

2. Disconnect the hot and cold water hoses from the rear of the washer, then tilt the appliance back so that you can access underneath.

3. Unscrew the two screws at the bottom of the washer cabinet that connect the lower front panel to the frame of the washing machine.

4. Remove the lower front panel by pulling it away from the frame of the washing machine.

5. Detach the wiring harness that navigates between the control panel and the drive motor

6. Remove the screws attaching the motor assembly to the frame of the washer.

7. Carefully lift the motor assembly out of the unit and set aside.

8. Remove the mounting screws from the shifter mode SVC assy kit, then pull the unit away from the washer body.

9. Install the new shifter mode SVC assy kit by inserting it into the holes in the washer body, then securing with the mounting screws.

10. Lower the motor assembly into the unit, making sure that the wiring harness is connected to the motor as you do so.

11. Secure the motor assembly to the frame of the washing machine with the screws you removed earlier.

12. Reattach the wiring harness connecting the control panel to the motor.

13. Replace the lower front panel by lining up the holes in the part with those in the frame of the washing machine, then reinserting and securely tightening the two screws at the bottom of the washer cabinet.

14. Reattach the water supply hoses for the hot and cold water, then plug the cord back into the electrical outlet.

15. Test the replacement shifter mode SVC assy kit by running a cycle on your washer.
