The Washer Drain Pump is what drains the waste water out of your washing machine. It also houses a large filter which can be cleaned with affresh® Washing Machine Cleaner Tablets once a month. If water is leaking onto the floor from the pump, replacing this part may alleviate the issue. Replacing this part will require basic hand tools, some disassembly of the washer and novice repair experience. You must unplug the washing machine or shut off the house circuit breaker for the appliance before installing this part. Also make sure you turn off the hot and cold water supplies. Step 1: Unplug the Washer
Before doing any repairs, it is important to unplug the washer from the wall. This will turn off the power and prevent any electric shocks.
Step 2: Remove the Bottom Panel
Using a flat head screwdriver, remove the screws from the bottom panel of the washer. Carefully lift the panel up and out, then set aside.
Step 3: Locate the Water Pump
The W10876600 Whirlpool Washer Water Pump can be found underneath the bottom panel. It should be located near the back of the machine and connected to the motor with two hoses.
Step 4: Disconnect the Motor
Using a socket wrench, disconnect the motor from the water pump by removing the bolts on either side. Then, disconnect the two hoses from the water pump and place them aside.
Step 5: Replace the Water Pump
Take the new W10876600 Whirlpool Washer Water Pump and slide it into the same position as the old one. Reattach the motor with the bolts, and reconnect the hoses. Make sure they are secure and there are no leaks.
Step 6: Test the Pump
Once everything is connected, plug in the washer and turn it on to make sure the water pump is working properly.
Step 7: Replace the Bottom Panel
Replace the bottom panel, and use the screws to securely fasten it in place.
