WP8540101 Whirlpool Washer Drive Belt
This Front Load Washer Drive Belt causes your washer to spin properly during the washing cycle. If your washer pumps but does not spin or if the drum spins slowly, replacing this part may alleviate these issues. This part attaches to the motor pulley and the transmission at the bottom of the appliance. While the the bottom of the washing machine is accessible, also consider replacing the motor pulley. Replacing this part will require basic hand tools, some disassembly of the appliance and novice repair experience. You must unplug the appliance or shut off the house circuit breaker before installing this part. Also make sure you turn off the hot and cold water supplies. Replacing the Whirlpool WP8540101 Belt
1. Unplug the power cord from the appliance before beginning.
2. Place a cloth or blanket on the floor to protect from any dropped parts.
3. Carefully remove the back panel of the appliance. This can usually be done by unscrewing the screws holding it in place.
4. Once the back panel is removed, locate the belt that needs replacing. This may require the removal of several other parts such as the agitator, pulley, and motor.
5. Remove the old belt and discard.
6. Place the new belt around the pulley and motor.
7. Make sure the belt is properly centered and secure.
8. Reassemble the parts in reverse order and make sure that everything fits back in place correctly.
9. Replace the back panel and screw it back into place.
10. Plug the power cord back into the appliance.
11. Test the appliance to make sure it’s running correctly.
