Step by Step DIY Instructions on How to Replace a Whirlpool Shock Absorber (W10739670)
Tools Needed:
- Screwdriver
- Pliers
Instructions:
1. Unplug power to your Whirlpool appliance.
2. Take off the back panel of your appliance. This is usually done by removing any screws that are securing it in place.
3. Once you’ve taken off the back panel look for the mounting screws that secure the shock absorber in place. These screws can be found inside the appliance just above where the shock absorber is located.
4. Remove the mounting screws with a screwdriver and carefully take out the shock absorber from its mount.
5. Disconnect the wires that were connected to the old shock absorber and then remove the old shock absorber.
6. Place the new shock absorber in the same location and re-connect the wires.
7. Secure the new shock absorber by using the mounting screws. Make sure the shock absorber is held in place firmly.
8. Put the back panel back in place and make sure all screws are secured properly.
9. Plug your Whirlpool appliance back in and test your shock absorber by turning on the appliance. If it is working correctly, the appliance should now be stable.
