1. Shut off the power to your washing machine before attempting to replace the GE WH16X26911 rod & spring assembly left-white. To do this, locate the circuit breaker box and switch the breaker off that controls the power to your washing machine.
2. Detach the hoses connected to the water inlet valve located at the back of the washing machine. Use a pair of pliers and a bucket to catch any remaining water in the hoses.
3. Move the washer away from the wall, taking extra care as it may be heavy and unbalanced.
4. Using a screwdriver, remove the screws that hold the access panel to the back of the washer. Once removed, set the screws aside.
5. Pull out the old GE WH16X26911 Rod & Spring Assembly left - white, and inspect for any residue buildup or surface rust on the parts. If any is present, use a cloth, a solution of mild detergent, and warm water to clean the part.
6. Install the replacement Spring & Rod Assembly onto the back of the washer and fasten it in place with the screws removed earlier.
7. Reattach the hoses to the water inlet valve and secure them tightly with a pair of pliers.
8. Pour a bucket of clean water into the washing machine and check for any leaks from the pipe connection.
9. Return the washer to its original position and switch the power back on.
10. Check the operation of the newly replaced GE WH16X26911 Rod & Spring Assembly left-white before using the washing machine.
