DIY Instructions for Replacing the Whirlpool W11496879 CONTROL-BOX
1. Begin by powering off the appliance. Unplug the refrigerator from the wall or turn off the breaker on the circuit panel, whatever is necessary.
2. Open the front door of the refrigerator. Locate and remove the access panel on the freezer wall. This gives access to the fan, evaporator coils, coils, and CONTROL-BOX.
3. Trace the wires of the old CONTROL-BOX, taking note of their color.
4. Use a screwdriver to disconnect the wires from the CONTROL-BOX, taking care to remove each wire one-by-one and in the same order.
5. Once the wires are disconnected, use a screwdriver to remove the screws that hold the CONTROL-BOX in place.
6. Take the new CONTROL-BOX and insert the screws into the holes, and secure it in place.
7. Reconnect the wires that were previously removed. Make sure each wire is reconnected in the same order as before.
8. Replace the access panel and close the refrigerator door.
9. Turn the power back on and test the CONTROL-BOX.
