DIY Guide to Replacing a Whirlpool W11417192 CHIMNEY SWITCH

Your Whirlpool W11417192 CHIMNEY SWITCH is an important part of your kitchen hood exhaust system. When it breaks, it can cause serious problems, like not allowing the fan to turn on, or the lights may not work. Replacing this switch is not too difficult and can be done at home with just a few tools and some patience. Read on to find out how to replace your broken switch!

Tools & Materials Needed:
Multimeter, Screwdriver (Phillips/flathead), New Switch (Whirlpool W11417192), Wire Strippers.

Step 1: Turn off power to the hood. Before you start any work, make sure the power to the hood is completely shut off. This is imperative for safety reasons and should not be overlooked.

Step 2: Remove the old switch. Use a Phillips/flathead screwdriver to remove the mounting screws and carefully pull out the old switch. Make sure to keep track of all the wiring, so you know where each wire goes later.

Step 3: Test the new switch. Use a multimeter to test the new switch to make sure it’s in working condition.

Step 4: Connect the wires. Using wire strippers, strip about ¼ inch of insulation from the end of each wire. Match up each colored wire with the corresponding color terminal on the back of the new switch. Secure the wires using the screws provided.

Step 5: Install the new switch. Carefully slide the new switch into place and secure it using the pre-existing mounting screws.

Step 6: Test the switch. Turn on the power to the hood and test the switch. If it works properly, you’re all set! If not, double check your connections and try again.

Now you know how to replace a Whirlpool W11417192 CHIMNEY SWITCH. With a few simple tools and some basic knowledge of wiring, you can get your exhaust ventilation system back up and running in no time. Good luck!
