W11043389 Whirlpool Dryer Timer
This Dryer Timer controls the electrical components of the appliance and duration of its drying cycles. If any of the contacts in your appliance’s timer have burned out, or if the motor inside the unit shorted out and the timer is no longer functioning, you can easily replace the assembly with this part. This timer does not include the control knob, but you can purchase it separately (Item-WPW10711289). Note that this issue is often misdiagnosed; refer to the Repair Help section on the Whirlpool Parts website for additional repair information. Installing this part will require basic hand tools, some disassembly of the dryer and novice repair experience. Instructions on Replacing a W11043389 Whirlpool Dryer Timer
1. Unplug the dryer from the wall outlet and pull the machine out from the wall.
2. Remove the back panel of the dryer by unscrewing the five screws on the back panel with a Phillips head screwdriver.
3. Locate the timer, which is located on the top left side of the drum. It is a small black component with two wiring harnesses connected to it.
4. Unplug the two wiring harnesses from the timer by pressing the release tabs outwards and then pulling the wires off.
5. Unscrew the two screws that secure the timer to the body of the dryer.
6. Remove the old timer and discard.
7. Insert the new timer into the dryer making sure to line up the mounting holes with the screws.
8. Secure the new timer with the two screws you removed earlier.
9. Plug the two wiring harnesses into the new timer. The wiring harness has colored coded wires so make sure they match up with the correct terminals.
10. Reattach the back panel by screwing in the five screws.
11. Push the dryer back against the wall and plug it into the wall outlet.
12. Turn on the dryer. You should be able to hear the timer clicking as it cycles through the different settings.
