This Dryer Telescoping Vent Periscope is designed to use in small laundry spaces with 2-1/2" wall clearance. It features one male snap-lock fitting and one extra long draw-band collar for easy installation. The beveled ends of the item prevent interference with or damage to floors and wall. Step 1: Unplug the power cord to the appliance and turn off the water supply before attempting the repair.
Step 2: Carefully remove the cover of the existing vent and disconnect any wires or vents that are connected to it.
Step 3: Pull the old vent out of the wall and discard it in an appropriate manner.
Step 4: Take the Whirlpool 4396014 Whirlpool Periscope Venting kit out of its packaging, and verify that all components are included.
Step 5: Slide the aluminum foil exhaust tubes through the wall and into the back of the dryer.
Step 6: Secure both the aluminum foil tubes and the vertical adjuster tube with metal clips provided in the vent kit.
Step 7: Reattach the power cord and turn on the water supply.
Step 8: Connect the vent hood and louvers to the panel.
Step 9: Put the cover back on the vent.
Step 10: Test the setup to make sure it is working properly.
