Step 2: Locate the immersion heating element. It is usually found near the bottom of the water heater tank.
Step 3: Remove the metal cover that is securing the element. Depending on the model, this could be a metal strap, screw, or bolt.
Step 4: Carefully remove the element from the tank. It may be necessary to take off additional components like wires and clips in order to access the element.
Step 5: Inspect the tank for any signs of sediment or mineral build-up. If any is found, clean it out with a wet-dry vacuum and a brush before installing the new element.
Step 6: Take off the old gasket and install a new one of the same size and shape.
Step 7: Install the new GE WR29X10109 CUP FILL IMMERSION HEATING ELEMENT. Make sure to connect the wiring as indicated in the manual.
Step 8: Secure the element to the tank with the metal cover.
Step 9: Turn the power back on to the water heater.
