1. Unplug the power cord of your GE washer from the wall outlet to ensure electrical safety during the repair.
2. Open the back panel of the washer by unscrewing the screws that secure the panel in place.
3. Locate the water valve with the gasket assembly you need to replace.
4. Disconnect the inlet and outlet hoses connecting the water valve to the cold and hot water lines.
5. Unscrew the bolts that secure the water valve to the back panel.
6. Remove the old gasket assembly from the water valve and discard it appropriately.
7. Place the new gasket assembly onto the water valve and press firmly to ensure a good seal.
8. Reattach the water valve to the back panel of the washer using the bolts you removed earlier.
9. Reconnect the hoses to the inlet and outlet ports on the water valve.
10. Close the back panel of the washer and screw it securely in place.
11. Plug the power cord of the washer into the wall outlet and test the repair by running a cycle.
