Step-by-Step Instructions on Replacing the GE WE1M570 Strike Plate with Strike Hole

1. Start by turning off power to the door. Typically, you’ll find the breaker box in the basement or utility room.

2. Remove the screws that secure the current strike plate to the doorjamb by using a screwdriver.

3. Unscrew the hinges on the door, and gently move it away from the frame so you can access the strike plate.

4. Take the new GE WE1M570 strike plate, and check its dimensions to make sure it matches the original one.

5. Mark the holes of the new strike plate on the doorjam, and drill the necessary holes at the marked spots.

6. Insert the screws that came with the strike plate, and fasten the strike plate onto the doorjam.

7. Reconnect the hinges of the door back into the frame, and secure them with the screws.

8. Finally, turn the power back on for the door.
