DIY Steps to Replace your GE WD26X25104 Variable Drain Pump Kit
1. Disconnect the power to the appliance by unplugging it or flipping the circuit breaker in the breaker box.
2. Remove the access panel from the back of the appliance. For some models, this may require removal of a few screws.
3. Locate the drain pump assembly. This should be located near the bottom of the appliance and is often held in place by two screws.
4. Unscrew the two screws and remove the old pump assembly.
5. With the old assembly removed, you can now inspect the hoses and tubing to check for any signs of damage or corrosion. If any part appears damaged or corroded, it should be replaced before the new drain pump assembly is installed.
6. Take the new drain pump assembly and connect the inlet and outlet tubes to the correct fitting on the pump.
7. Secure the new assembly in place with the two screws and replace the access panel.
8. Reconnect the power to the appliance and test the new drain pump assembly.
