DIY GE Dishwasher Flood Float Replacement Guide

If your GE dishwasher isn't draining properly or is flooding, you may need to replace the flood float (WD21X22822). The task is straightforward and can be completed with minimal tools. Here's a guide on how to replace the flood float in your GE dishwasher.

Materials Needed:

- Replacement flood float (WD21X22822)
- Phillips-head screwdriver
- Socket wrench
- Pliers

Step 1: Unplug the dishwasher power cord and shut off the water supply.

Step 2: Pull the GE dishwasher away from the wall and turn it over so that the bottom panel is visible. Remove the screws holding the panel in place with a Phillips-head screwdriver.

Step 3: Locate the flood float assembly—it looks like a triangle-shaped black plastic box near the back of the dishwasher. Use a socket wrench to unscrew the two bolts securing the box.

Step 4: Carefully remove the old flood float from the assembly. It should be connected to a wire harness. Disconnect the wire harness from the float.

Step 5: Install the new flood float in the assembly, connecting it to the wire harness.

Step 6: Use a socket wrench to secure the assembly in place with the two bolts.

Step 7: Replace the bottom panel and secure it with the screws.

Step 8: Turn the dishwasher upright and plug the power cord back in. Turn the water supply back on and begin the dishwasher cycle.

Your GE dishwasher flood float should now be replaced. Call a certified technician for professional help if you encounter any unexpected issues.

Please keep in mind, these instructions are for general guidance and should always be used in conjunction with the manufacturer's manual, if available.
