DIY Guide to Replacing GE WB28X39132 LP Conversion Kit
1.Preparation: Before beginning the installation of your replacement LP Conversion Kit, make sure you have read the safety instructions provided with the kit and ensure you have the required tools necessary to complete the job. Have a fire extinguisher readily available in case of an emergency. Also, have nearby a flashlight, flat-head and Phillips screwdrivers, and adjustable pliers.
2.Turn Off the Gas Supply: Before you begin any type of gas appliance repair, it is imperative that you turn off the gas supply so that there is no danger of the gas leaking throughout the process. Locate the main shutoff valve and turn the handle parallel to the line to turn off the gas.
3.Disconnect the Gas Line: Carefully disconnect the gas line from the shutoff valve and set aside for future re-connection. Once the line is disconnected, you can remove the existing conversion kit.
4.Remove Existing Conversion Kit: Depending on the type of conversion kit, there may be screws or bolts used to secure the existing kit to wear the new one will fit. Remove the screws or bolts and carefully extract the existing kit from the appliance (usually from the back).
5.Install New Conversion Kit: Once the existing kit has been removed, you can securely install the new conversion kit. The new kit should come with adapter or manifold pieces to help secure the kit to the appliance securely. Follow the instructions included with the kit to accurately install the new kit.
