The spanner nut sits on top of the agitator. In order to access the part, you'll have to remove the fabric softener dispenser or cap first. You'll then remove the agitator from the washer by holding a fin and removing the bolt. If you have trouble removing the nut, letting it rest in penetrating oil may help. Use a rubber hammer to pound the nut off if necessary. It may help to have someone hold the tub at the same time.
