You may need this replacement part if the element itself shorted out, or if the igniter of your oven glows for more than 90 seconds without lighting the gas flame – this indicates that the igniter is too weak to properly open the valve to allow the gas to feed through. The igniter must glow white hot to properly light the oven; if it glows red or orange it is not functioning correctly.
