This Top Load Washer Spanner Nut tightens down the drive block to hold the inner tub of your washer in place. If the nut is damaged from corrosion, it may need to be replaced. ... The spanner nut sits on top of the agitator. In order to access the part, you'll have to remove the fabric softener dispenser or cap first. You'll then remove the agitator from the washer by holding a fin and removing the bolt. If you have trouble removing the nut, letting it rest in penetrating oil may help. Use a rubber hammer to pound the nut off if necessary. It may help to have someone hold the tub at the same time. Replacing this part will require basic tools, some disassembly of the washing machine and novice repair experience.
