This Top Load Washer Upper Agitator is connected to the lower agitator and the whole assembly helps to spin your clothes properly so they can be washed. To remove the old upper agitator, open the machine lid and remove the fabric softener dispenser by pulling it straight up. Then remove the barrier cap. You'll then be able to remove the agitator bolt. After pulling the agitator out of the machine, separate the lower agitator from the upper agitator and save the spacer washer that sits on top of the existing part so you can use it to attach the new one. Replacing this part will require basic hand tools, some disassembly of the washing machine and novice repair experience.
