This Electric Range Glass Cooktop, Black, houses (4) surface cooking burners and provides a stable cooking surface during the heating process. This part is approximately 34-1/4" wide x 30-1/8" long. You may need to replace the glass cooktop of your appliance if the current part is cracked or damaged and no longer functioning properly. Note that the style of this part is a newer design that no longer has holes for the element bracket to attach to the cooktop. Replacing a Whirlpool Range Glass Cooktop, Black (Part Number W10245805)
Step 1: Unplug the range from the wall outlet.
Step 2: Remove the grates and burner caps from the top of the cooktop.
Step 3: Lift the range top up and off the range body.
Step 4: Use a putty knife to remove the old glass cooktop from the range body.
Step 5: Clean the range body thoroughly with a damp cloth.
Step 6: Place the new glass cooktop onto the range body.
Step 7: Secure the cooktop with screws.
Step 8: Replace the burner caps and grates onto the cooktop.
Step 9: Plug the range into the wall outlet.
Tips:
• Wear protective gear (gloves, goggles, etc.) while replacing the glass cooktop.
• Make sure that all screws and nuts are tightened properly after installation.
• Be aware of the type of gas (natural or propane) used with the range.
