Replacing a Whirlpool dishwasher chopper assembly can be a daunting task, but with the right preparation and materials, it can be done in under an hour.
Materials Needed:
-Phillips head screwdriver
-Replacement chopper assembly (W11246682)
-Bucket (for collecting water)
Instructions:
1. Disconnect power to your dishwasher by unplugging it from the wall or switching off the circuit breaker.
2. Shut off the water supply to the dishwasher by turning the cold water shutoff valve clockwise.
3. Place a bucket underneath the dishwasher to collect the water that will spill out when it’s disconnected.
4. Use your Phillips head screwdriver to unscrew the top cover of the dishwasher.
5. Locate the existing chopper assembly and disconnect any wiring that is connected to it.
6. Remove the screws that hold the old chopper assembly in place and carefully remove it.
7. Insert the new chopper assembly into place and secure with the screws.
8. Reconnect the wiring and replace the top cover.
9. Turn the water supply back on and plug the dishwasher into the wall.
10. Test your dishwasher to make sure it is working properly.
